The vision of the Dubai-based client was to create an app that would enable residents of Dubai to exchange high-end and luxury items with ease. The app aims to be a platform for people to buy, sell, and exchange luxury items with others. To create an app that would meet these objectives, several key elements were considered and implemented during the development process.

The app is designed to be user-friendly and easy to use, with a UI that facilitated item exchange by removing friction and providing easy navigation. Additionally, a trust-based score was established for each user to encourage trustworthy behaviour and create a more secure platform. The app's design is clean, with careful consideration given to color and typography to maintain a professional and high-end look

Design principles

Simplicity

The app should prioritize simplicity in both design and functionality. This means eliminating unnecessary elements and focusing on the most important features to create an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.

Trustworthiness

The app should establish a trust-based score for each user to encourage trustworthy behavior and create a more secure platform. This can be achieved through identity verification, secure payment options, and other measures to protect user information and transactions.

Consistency in Design

The app should maintain a consistent visual style and branding throughout all its pages and features. This helps to create a more professional and high-end look and feel, while also making it easier for users to navigate and understand the app's features and functionality.

The role

As the sole lead designer on this app, I was responsible for overseeing the entire design process and ensuring that the app met the client's vision. My role was critical in creating a user-friendly and visually appealing UI that facilitated the exchange of luxury items.

I worked closely with the client to understand their requirements and vision for the app, and I used my design expertise to bring that vision to life. I created wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to test and refine the design, and I worked closely with the development team to ensure that the design was implemented correctly.

Brand identity

To establish a strong brand identity, it was crucial to create a logo that was simple yet meaningful, and to incorporate an active color scheme and appealing visuals. In addition, ensuring smooth transitions between pages was a key priority, as this helps to create a seamless and enjoyable user experience for customers.

Onboarding

The onboarding experience was also a key focus of the app's design. The goal was to create an onboarding experience that was effective and easy to use, without overwhelming users with too much information or too many options.

To achieve this, the app was designed with a user-friendly interface that behaved smoothly and was easy to navigate. The onboarding process was simplified into a series of clear and concise steps, guiding users through the process.

A seamless user experience

The primary focus of the app was to provide a seamless user experience. To achieve this, the homepage was designed to showcase products as the centerpiece, with a constantly refreshed feed that helps users find what they're looking for.

Furthermore, the product page was designed to help users make quick and informed decisions. This was achieved through a user-friendly interface that includes high-quality images and an easy-to-use enquiry feature. The goal was to ensure that every element on the page is designed to be easy to digest and understand, ultimately resulting in a positive user experience.

User profile

The user profile was designed to be easy to use and navigate, with two main sections: "My Items" and "My Swaps."

In "My Items" users have access to a list of items that they are interested in swapping. This section allows users to keep track of the items they're interested in, making it easy to initiate swaps with other users.

The "My Swaps" section is where users can view all the items they have successfully swapped. This feature helps users keep track of their previous transactions and helps them to build their reputation as trustworthy traders. The section allows users to leave feedback on the swap, which further helps to build trust between users.
